Jeanie Marie Buss, an American businesswoman. Her current position is that of president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. The California born Buss grew up in an extremely wealthy family. Jerry Buss, her father was a successful entrepreneur in real estate who became owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. Her feelings of abandonment were heightened after her parents split in the year 1972. As a 19-year-old she was able to take over her role as General Manager of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. Later, she founded an organization called the Los Angeles Blades, a professional team of roller hockey. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming the Vice President of the Lakers. Buss along with her five brothers and sisters and their father, who owned the Lakers and was their controlling shareholder until the time of his passing away in 2013, received this ownership through a trust. They each enjoyed equally voting rights. Buss assumed the role of the President of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss has also been a owner of a portion of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling association).
